Portrait study No.3 (Grid method) Short Version

Share

Portrait study no.3. Learned a lot from this one. Specially thick fabric, fluid hair and how to paint faster. Last year a portrait like this took 20 hours. This one took only 10 hours. Im happy with the results :)

Thank you :) glad u liked it . same goes to you. I followed as well

It is incredible! Not just in aesthetic and artistic beauty, but also in the fine details, like the stitching and folds of the fabric. You're able to take it from a beautiful piece of art to one that also blows my mind when I try to think about the effort, patience, and genius that it takes to create the finest of details. Well done would be an unjust understatement.

rainwalker007 responds:

Wow. Im speechless, thank you for this amazing comment. It made my day. I believe art is 90% a state of mind rather then just techniques. If you give from ur heart not only it will show on ur piece, but ppl would feel the ripples of it as well. I made some awful pieces before and i know why they were awful. Not due to lack of knowledge alone, which might be a factor but coz my heart wasnt in it. But this one, i was focused, I needed to learn more about fabric, light, and texture so i paid attention. The painting itself is a side effect of the real reason of why i painted it. and that is to learn more. Its a win win situation

Thank you for ur kind words, It cheered me up :)

The textures are amazing!
Especially on that jacket!
The light creases on her face are a phenomenal touch as well. Is this based on any particular person or photo?

rainwalker007 responds:

Thank you and yes she is a friend of mine on facebook :)
It was a helpful study focusing particularly on texture, light and shadows.

Great work!

rainwalker007 responds:

Thank you :)
