SDA #19: Easier Than Expected

Share

Comic #19: Easier Than Expected. At least that's what they said. I personally thought Kaleb did a great job of hiding his house from interloping infidels...or nosy neighbors. I never know who's knocking til you open the door, right? Unless you have a peephole, but that's cheating.

Anyway, this comic was a jab at an old joke about my dad. He's a military man (or former military, at least; retired this past June after over 20 years of service), and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank him for everything he's done for me and our country. He's sacrificed a lot to provide for us, and while I may resent the constant moving and all that it entails, I am grateful. Thanks, dad!

Anyways, when we started this comic, our early drafts were a little more explicit than my dad would have liked. Now I, being a stubborn but still obedient son, I complied to his deman- "request" that I tone down the profanity. He never said I couldn't bash him in comic form, however! So, enter "The Man," the enigmatic, militaristic father figure that's "keeping me down!" He showed up on a poster in the background of Comic #5, and Jimtopia and Amiolas and I had some laughs about when he'd show up in the comic, but there was never a good opportunity to do so until Comic #19.

So that's where that joke came from. The sign joke, on the other hand, just struck me as good common sense. Any ninja worth his weight in gold (or blood) had better do a damn good job disguising his lair. And Kaleb is a ninja GENIUS!!!
