I couldn't do better but...
...yeah as the other comments told, you could darken the background and use some more light effects on the fireworks would be sooo awesome!

Make your background strokes in the same direction, to create the illusion that the sky stretches out beyond the paper. It feels constrained otherwise.
Or you could cheat and use photoshop to make the background so dark that nobody can tell the difference.
