"Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night I feel my leg, my arm, even my fingers, the body I've lost, the comrades I've lost, wont stop hurting, it's like they're all still there, you feel it too don't you?

I'm going to make them give back our past." ~ Kazuhira Miller

I've been wanting to draw this for a while, but it took some time, working with lighting for the first time, using more brush strokes for the hair. The background isn't amazing, I wanted to capture rolling sands, but feel it blurs too much, but I still wanted the emphasis on Snake, so I guess I like how it draws the eye TO Snake... not really an excuse, but it wasn't originally going to have a background, I just wanted to set the scene.

I'll tell ya it's hard doing fanart of a character who has so few references...

Quite happy with this, I think I can mark this as a milestone of progress! So good to get it out there.

EDIT: As per KatanaSoul's comment I fixed the gradient.

Good work, though I think the random gradient shading on the side of his face is a little unecessary, considering you've used cell shading everywhere else.

Other than that, you've done a good job. I like the colouring, and you've payed attention to the clothing, despite your lack of references.

Onikage01 responds:

I see what you mean about the shading, I forgot to smooth the lines of the other parts, it was meant to be entirely gradient shading.

The only issue with reference that I've found, is knowing where his black/red prosthetic arm starts, I took a little liberty here and kept it skin coloured on his left arm, I assume the metal starts later.

Thanks for the kind words, was great to get this out and compare it to my older pictures of Snake.
