meanacing and brooding
Not much to say about this one other than you are playing with many different styles and seem to be learning from each on your own. I look forward to seeing your final look that is uniquely yours. Good work over all.
The only oddity I notice is perhaps a imbalance of top and bottom. Slightly top-heavy. robots or mechas are usually built to show a balance, a "thickness" of form to seem heavy. Unbalanced characters tend to seem weak over all. So perhaps a slight wider lower part would correct that perception.
Shading need little work. Maybe study real world object like construction equipment sitting in the sun at the time you want your mecha to be depicted. Practice drawing such parts in that light.. Also it looks to be hanging in mid air. a floor, dirt, metal panels, whatever may help lend more weight to the character, become more threatening looking. (Dirt or grass, slightly depressed into the ground, a very effective yet subtle look) Perhaps ever so slightly hunched over in form. adding to the illusion of great weight, therefore power. Like a great tiger hunched down like a spring, the potential lethal force imminent.
Like all of your mecha art, looks to your favorite anime mecha cartoons for guidance ..freeze-frame some shots, just landing, ready to take off, mid-stride ect. You can learn a lot from that. Taking a new look at animation can help with still art work, by giving it POTENTIAL motion makes it seem like it could leap off the page and harass the viewer lol

Gosh!something different from anime mecha!
I disagree with tateortea, that mecha look different than thoses shiny war mech from japanese animes, it look more like some worn industrial worker mech , with a touch of Victorian steampunk, kinda like some Wall-e turned into a patchwork war machine, in that case the choice of gray pastels is perfect, it enforce its old--reused look
il also add that the twisted face of the mech , make it a little burelesque wich add originality to the picture, like some psychoticsci -fi novels
very unique
finally a new good review ! thank you
nice
i think if you added a strong ligh source and some shine to the metal it would look much better :]
it's not a realistic draw, wasn't that obvius?
i really like the colors and shading style
but try and work on making it fun to look at. it's a cool design and technically done well. try and put him in a sweet pose
it's my first mecha
