Portrait of 1600 done in charcoal. I'm extremely pleased with the way it came out, especially since I haven't done many portraits from observation.
I love the delicacy of the white charcoal on the pale paper. My only recommendation is that you tone down your subject's jaw a little-- at the moment it's reading more as some sort of soft white fuzzy beard than as a highlight.
Also, is the color from colored pencils?
Thanks for the input! I fixed it and once I get another photo, I'll fix it here too. :)
I'm pretty sure the color is from chalk pastels, though I can't be positive because I found it in an unmarked box...
