Author's Comments

This is a Nahuije, and the days turned weeks and the weeks turned months to make this creation. I like surrealism, art and also crazy and scariness things like ferocious colorful ones. Please enjoy and comment about it.

*I make them with carton, acrylic paints and engrudo (sorry for not using the word in english but I have really no idea, Engrudo it's like glue for the carton and paper craft"

NOTE: -The Nahuijes are handmade creations
- I do NOT use photoshop or any similar software in this photos.
-The name of the technique I use is "CartonerÃ-a" The name is in spanish and do not have an equivalent in english.
- I sell them, so if you want them message me.

Please enjoy and comment about it.

"love the Oxacan design"

date: June 22, 2009

but it seems like cheating considering that you are not using real wood. lol
not that you could make something like that out of wood.

Author's Response:

It is not Oaxaca design, The Alebrijes of Oaxaca are made with wood, the Alebrijes of DF and Mexico City are made with carton and paper craft bout techniques are traditional, But the ones I have submitted aren't Alebrijes at all, I am searching my own style which consist on using several materials, more color (Like Psychedelic), and more historical concepts. ThatâEUTMs why I like to call them NAHUIJES.
Note: I have some Nahuijes made with wood.

That's super hyper ultra cool looking. Have you tried taking these colourful photos of the sculptures with a black background? I think it'd look better maybe oh I don't know nevermind.
