This is a loose 2 hours painting I made for my girlfriend while she was away. I had to watch her betta fish and this is where the idea came from.
It's all done in acrylics.
Hope you like it.
EDIT: thanks a lot for the feature!
The People Have Spoken
Average Score: 9.3 / 10
Great, great, and great. The fish is the first thing you look at, but there's so much more to it than that. It's amazing, really! It looks real in the way the colors and light make depht and the shapes creates an organic, underwater, fresh feel to it. :)
And your painting is skilled and marvelous. And I like the way you have these painting drops and the small spots with white, yellow and red, which I though was a great way to make this more dirty, and create contrasts, allthough it's not very clear.
The light is also superb, and the way the fish is wanting to go to the light (or what the heck it's doing) is cool. I though this was a really peaceful, different but beautiful picture. I would buy it to hang it on my wall. :)

Thanks! I really appreciate your comments. I tried to make it peaceful with the subject and the colors and at the same time dynamic with aggressive brush strokes and splatters. I'm glad you like it!
and i just got a betta fish for my birthday
Author's Response:
:)
Shit, this was awesome! I can't describe it with words, it's just fantastic!
Author's Response:
Thanks!
This looks more like the bottom of a swallow part of an exotic ocean
than a fish tank.
Unless she owns the ocean! lol.
Some nice effects in there for acrylics...
Nice image visually, but it does lack depth or meaning:
Then again i suppose its has personal value.
Author's Response:
Well this is suppose to be in the ocean :) and yeah the value is personal between me and my girlfriend, but not everyone can find a meaning in everything. Thanks for your comment!
2 hours? That's amazing! I really love the colors.
Author's Response:
I'm glad you like it! Thanks!

Author's Response:
Thank you :)
I think it's fantastic. I love the atmospheric perspective and the abstract shapes... It looks effortless.
Author's Response:
Thanks! Once I had my main colors washes laid down, it was pretty much effortless :)
The choice of color is awesome!
it lokks like an real underwater world :)
Author's Response:
Im glad you like it!
This is gorgeous. I love the color and depth.
Author's Response:
thanks!
I love the rough look, it looks so realistic I wonder how big the original canvas is.
Author's Response:
I forgot the exact dimension, but its something like 20 x 10 inches
i like abstract paintings..
its like the paintings
wanna say something...and you wanna know..
what it wants to say..^^
nice artwork again..keep going..^^
Author's Response:

i like the mood the lighter blues set in the top and in the middle but i think the darker purples and the reds in the left ruin the feeling of light and bubbly i get when looking at the rest of the picture. i like the fact that aside from the fish(beta im guessing)the lines on everything else arent clear and defined. it really serves to pull focus to the fish rather having your eyes get lost in the rest of the colors around it
Author's Response:
Yeah I understand what you mean. Thanks for commenting!
I like what I see.
No heavy critique from me except that; if you are to ever have an aquarium hang this above it hey? Just kidding.
Really though... put this in a room or hallway that gets a lot of traffic.
Good stuff, very well done.
Author's Response:
Hey thanks! Well my girlfriend is now the owner of this artwork, so.. yeah lol, I'll make more similar ones like that in the future. Thanks for the comment!
I appreciiateeee
Author's Response:
Oh no problem! I really appreciates your comments too! Thanks!
to expand on whythe00's comment: I think the problem is that in trying to do the rays of light (very very hard I understand) you lost the focus of your painting. A lack of color can be useful to draw attention but it didn't lead to anything. I am supportive of this though, because I think that you rely heavily on color in many of your other works to get the pop needed in an abstract way. This was a step in a good new direction, I think.
Author's Response:
I understand what you are saying, I'll keep that in mind the next time. (btw the rays of light were simply done by putting Windex on scott towel whipping the paint off. So the white you see is the white of the canvas :)
I love this style, very abstract. It looks like a wreck on the left. There's a lot of mystery in your drawing. Very beautiful.
Author's Response:
thanks a lot, I appreciate it
But I didn't really liked it.
Its skillfull but I can't help but feel that its not as good as your other works (on which I also reviewed).
Maybe its just too abstract and the colours are kinda light (yeah I guess that was on purpose but anyways).
Somehow I just don't feel much when looking at it...
Author's Response:
Thanks for the review I really appreciate it! Yeah I wanted to make it abstract to get the feel of underwater waterscapes and use light colors to make it calm and peaceful (unlike my other artwork). Thank you for giving your opinion :)
Abstract, but evocative. Again, great use of colours. I hope to see more works from you.

thanks!
