This is one frame based on a short film idea ... It went alil something like this.

An Intern at newgrounds is shown the ropes on the ins and outs of the office. The Pbot figure that stands at the head of the office actually moves and greets guest that come in through the door. The Intern notices that this figure isnt plugged in, and inquires how is the figure powered, figuring it was merely battery operated, and mainly is only asking in an attempt at small talk.. The Answer Tom explains is far from what he expected to hear. Tom lets him in on a lil secret, and points to an ancient Key thats embedded on the back of the Pbot figure. "This key holds the soul of a thousand year old demon." Tom states almost playfully. "Centuries of anger and hate condensed into one key" The intern looks at Tom and asks... "why" Tom replies.. "Green SILLY!!" "Hate and anger is a very powerful thing, powerful enough to run this lil Robot figure for hours!" "No emissions and completely renewable!".. The only downside is , if the key is connected long enough to any object, it can possess that object.. and the interns job was to make sure the key was removed at a certain time. Otherwise the demon would be transferred from the key to the robot permanently . Suffice it to say, the Intern forgets and the robot becomes more mobile as the story goes. Running away from the intern at first, but all the while slowly changing, until finally, becoming the fully possessed and fully demonic Pbot figure you see in this shot.

I might one day go back and play with this idea, but for right now its in limbo, there was about 30 CG shots, with 15 prop shots, and this ONE frame alone took over 2 hours to render... so for now, enjoy the shot.

Love the 3D work; but comments on the story

I know what you've given is a brief summary, but having Tom blatantly suggest that the key is incredibly evil and could transfer to P-Bot is a little sudden and hard to believe. If I were the intern, my first thoughts would be "he's joking". Playing off of that, rather than him "forgetting", having him purposely leave the key in could lead to a stronger climax as he tries to deal with the consequence of not removing the key. If you'd want to make the short film a longer short film, having Tom reluctant to say what the power source is and making the intern find out why he has to remove the key would add a lot to the story.

As far as the design, he definitely looks creepy: with a hint of an ancient feel, as in an old dark feel, which is great when you're talking about evil and artifacts (the key). Is this how PBot will look through out the entire short film, or will he look like his cheerful self in the beginning, and start to look more like this character you're showing us now? Other than that stuff, the image is great. I'd love to see a clip of it in motion sometime. If you ever need someone to play the part of the intern, I'd love to give it a shot; haha

MindChamber responds:

haha, well the intern doesn't take him seriously, like he forgets, but figures its a gag anyway. Until he sees lil pbot peeking around from corners etc.. And if you know Tom, its completely believable that he would come up with a reason that's as left field as this one. There's alot i left out in the description as I didnt want to bog down the spot with too much writing.

If you've ever seen "Be Kind. Rewind" Directed by Micheal Gondry, you will see where I was heading at. Jack Black is demagnetizing VCR tapes with his body after being electrocuted. haha cant get any more Blatant than that. I do agree, the intern being alil devious and testing out the key theory might be alil more fun in the end.

Hot damn.

That is jizztastic. I really think you should get a few of your buddies, and create this masterful film! It would be amazing, as it has a great plot, would have nice animation and effects, and it's Newgrounds obviously!
