Basically, the staff is the female character, buried with the phaoroah to keep him company. SHe's able to grant him a single wish every 3,000 years and he's getting ready to wish to go to the great beyond. Only now because he fucked up his first wish when he wished for certain powers... to be revealed. Anyway, they are always snapping at each other, and when the time comes to grant the next wish the two are in a fight and he accidentally wastes his wish for some more lively company. *wish granted* The staff goes to find him some company. She ends up picking the first person she sees, which is a black dude who is about to get killed in a gang shoot out he's involved in. The staff saves him from this fate which disrupts his destiny. Now, Satan is pissed and wants compensation for the soul she took from him. Satan catches The staff in a trap and When the staff explains to satan what happened with The Mummy, Satan is surprisingly cool with it, and laughs his ass off and said "fine, keep him, Just make sure that cockroach suffers untill i get him back in 3000 years." So the staff, thinking fast to please satan turns the black dude into a cockroach and ties his foot to a chain that is attached to the pharaohs neck
And now they're a 3s a company odd couple.

The roach is always tricking the pharaoh to use his powers to entertain him, while the staff remains completely aloof, but everyone loosens up a little when they have to wait for eternity yet again.
