A Mermaid, ZX Spectrum style

Share

DISCLAIMER: I did NOT create the lineart. That belongs to Scarlett: http://scarlett-aimpyh.deviantart.com/
So this strange piece of art took me two weeks, and was finished last night. Last year I've made 3 pics in the style of 80s IBM computers in CGA & EGA forms. This mermaid I coloured in the style of the Sinclair ZX spectrum computers. The Spectrum computers have only 15 colours (technically 16, but there's two blacks), but limited with only 2 colours per 8x8px tile. So what's the difference between the Spectrum & EGA? Well, EGA's colours have 16 & their colours are not too vibrant + their dark colours are clear. The Spectrum's colours are very vibrant, and some of their dark colours are less visible (the only colours are mostly clear are yellow, light gray, and green).

The next time if I do old PC-styled pixel art, I'm going Commodore 64 this time around.

People voted your art two stars on this? :(

To me this doesn't look bad. At least you and you friend put some dedication in it! :)

Well it was going to be some generic contest entry, but it looked pretty bad. I love to improvise ;)
