Deesse des cercueils

Share

"If you listen hard enough, you'll notice that the dead talk in their sleep and sometimes, although very rarely, you'll hear one sing. It's really pretty neat. After father reaps the old soul from the body, I'm the one who watches what happens after and creates a new soul from the body. I'm the goddess of decay, though I prefer "la Deesse des cercueils", the goddess of the coffins. The other deities call me the "grave-keeper", though. I really like my job; it gets interesting sometimes! You may think that watching the dead would be boring, but that's only because I do my job well. Out of the corpses of the dead rise new souls to become the living, the creation of which being an art I've perfected. The coolest thing, though, is making sure the dead don't get restless. I've had to prevent countless zombie uprisings in my lifetime."

This is my submission for the Character of the Week #34, the theme being goddess. I was going for a tomboyish look, but she came out a little too androgynous. I do still like how she came out looking. I'm pretty pleased with this, even if it's not the greatest thing I've ever made. Feedback is appreciated.

This is really good

As is your other work. Have you ever thought of doing a 'Character Story', where you make a character, then draw a storyline for them, posting the continuation of story over a period of (days/weeks/months)? Anyway, your story writing matches, if not surpasses, your artistry.

Wow, I didn't think this one would ever get a review!
I've thought about doing stories for characters, yes, but more along the lines of doing comics (I started one, I need to continue it. I was just thinking about doing so today) or just gradual drawings that flesh out the character's personalities and actions. I've also thought about writing stories for characters that I've originally imagined through drawing. (Namely, Ophelia and Ludvig, the blond girl with an army hat and the tall man with goggles and headphones; I've got a drawing with both of them earlier on in the portal and a drawing with just Ophelia later. I already have a story for them imagined.)
Anyways, thanks for the review, and I'm glad you like both parts of this- the drawing and the story.
