Grimataur - MrG

Jazza's challenge of the month oct/2015 entry. (won an honorable mentions award)

It's a monstrous undead creature taking on elements from the sea, as it has spent quite some time there, but the transformation isn't complete yet, which is why it's fish-scale skin doesn't cover it completely for instance.
Some of the required elements are perhaps not as obvious as the others. Yes, he is devouring souls (look in the water and then in his mouth). Yes there are scales, fish like (zoom in). And i indicated his height through the swords sticking out of his body. (And his waist isn't just skinny or something, it's rotted away, cause he's undead)

Lore:
Once, in a time long gone, there was a king, a vile king, reigning over a coastline country. This king was a cannibal, one who took sadistic pleasure in eating his subordinates alive, and his rule was no less tyrannical. His time on the throne would not last, though. After only a few years, the people, and even his fellow royalists, overthrew him. He was given no clean death, no, the people demanded a cruel death for a cruel king. His hand was fused to an anchor, scorched by the blazing hot metal. He was then taken far our from shore and thrown into the sea.
But legends state that the evil within him burned too hot for the sea to swallow.
They say he can still be seen, merely a fragment of his former self, wandering along
the shores of his homeland, terrorizing his dead countrymen, as he once did his living.

This is amazing! Love the glowing effect on the eyes, and overall concept of the piece. Amazing job.

This is very nice.
I really like the cool and warm contrast and how you pull the viewer back into the eyes of the monster. Stunning, simply stunning.

This is stunning! Great work ! Amazing detail. The waist is the only thing that bugs. The design though is beautifull and works perfectly

LeFrenchBaguette responds:

Well, the thing is that his waist is rotted away i guess you could say. Like a decaying corpse.
