Second of three works that have me diving a little more into surrealism.
As of late, I felt conflicted about my desire to work with cartoons a little more, but to also throw myself into surrealism. It felt like I had to neglect one for the other, since I had it in my head that surrealism had to have objects be as realistically rendered as possible. This trio of works shows me starting to blend the bright, saturated, exaggerated images that I love with the bizarre nature of surrealism. Plus, I'm trying out new painting techniques too!
This piece is about the cycle of being in a relationship where you love the time you spend with the person, but as soon as you're apart for a few hours, you realize that the relationship is unhealthy for you or the other person. Still, you don't have the nerve to leave, and the cycle of love and regret never ends.
