For an art history class, I took Durer's Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and remade it in a Futurist style. Just to make my life easy, I'll copy and paste my concept statement below:
Seeing the sense of movement, intensity, and portrayal of a future event in Dürer's The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, I was eager to recreate it in a Futurist style. My major goal was to break forms down and illustrate the figures in a way that instantly recalled Futurist work, but was still faithful to the original designs. The horsemen are comprised of straight lines and exaggerated curves, drawn in such a way as to portray both flatness and three-dimensionality. They are colored in a way to both reflect their individual roles and convey a sense of speed. I also prioritized movement across the image, making the path of motion diagonal rather than horizontal to increase tension and stay faithful to a few of the lancer-based works by Severini and Boccioni, two significant figures in the Futurist movement.
