Dragon Half

Share

"Dragon Half" is one anime that can truly be considered a classic. Even if you don't LIKE anime, it's so bizarre that it's worth at least a peek.

Anyhow...I'm kind of at a crossroads with this picture. Overall, I really like how it turned out, but I also have a million things to nitpick about it: Things I should have blurred, shadow placements, areas I should have shaded darker, etc. Her eyes look out of place to me, and despite using skin texture brushes, her skin doesn't look...."skinlike" enough (it doesn't help when you're trying to adhere to the color scheme of something animated). XD I also wish I had created the giant set I made of various reptilian skin brushes BEFORE I did this piece.

If anything, I have learned that maybe I should do a little more with using honest-to-goodness BLACK to add more depth in my shading. And I should have toned down her greaves and sabatons, because they stick out like sore thumbs.

I guess I can lament my inability to properly shade things all I want, but I can't help but like this one, despite it's flatness.

Hell Yeah!

Awesome job. Love her eyes, and the fire coming out of her mouth looks great.

Kwee responds:

Thanks! That fire took forever to get just right. There's probably a mix of at least 10 different brushes in there. XD

Better than anyone could draw atleast

I don't see much of a problem with this picture as you stated. It looks great! I like how you did with the fire and the wings. And the shadings not that bad, so I think it looks good.
