"Feathers the Bird Girl stood barely four feet tall. She had a sickly look to her with that gaunt face and those spindly legs. Her nose was hooked and her eyes dark and beady. Off the stage the rest of the crew called her Echo. Not that this was her name. In fact, no one really knew what her real name was. She didn't talk much about herself. Well, she didn't talk at all, except for a few choice words she'd mimic from an overheard conversation. Echo's age was a mystery to me. At times she looked like a child, at other times a tiny old woman. To be honest, her gender was pretty questionable as well. Echo had a twitchy demeanor, her bulbous head bobbing here and there as if a predator may leap from the shadows at any moment. Her range of facial emotions was limited and I was often suspicious of her intent as she followed me about with that blank expression. But after many days of having her flit about and watch me with her curious eyes, I deemed her friendly enough. Especially after I heard her sing."
