Yuk-Yuk's Sword

Share

I was showing one of my buddies some of my item sketches the other day and was relating the back story for one that was intended to be a wondrous item. And his brother made a comment about why does everything have to have a back story. Well from there the first guy started to rattle off a story about Yuk-Yuk, an ambitious kobold smith who got tired of his nagging wife and pushed her in to his smelting pot and though "Why let it go to waste." He proceeded to make a magical weapon since he already had a sacrifice to the fire.
After some joking and spit-balling of some ideas I told them that I would draw this sword.

By Kobold standards this is quite an achievement.

(By everyone else's standards its crap, but hey their kobolds)

So here we have probably one of the few, if not the only Kobold artifact. Yuk-Yuks Sword.
In the hands of a kabold it is a +1 short sword due to the moral bonus the sword provides since it is a Kabold masterpiece.
For everyone else it's a -3 short sword

The sword has other effects as well. The sword is bonded to the user unless stolen, or the user dies. The sword cannot be sold, given away, dropped, thrown away or lost. The sword also has a curse of nagging. It will constant ally nag the owner, and the nagging will change depending on the situation. The sword will imitate the voice of the owner's wife, girlfriend, or mother, and nag them in to insanity.
This has earned the sword the name "The ol' Ball and Chain" from other races

So anyway here it is from sketch to color. :P

Cool!

I like that you showed the process. The story is good too. I've never been THAT great at technical things like weapons, so yeah- I am a little envious.

Kinsei responds:

hey thanks man, I guess sometimes these funny little quips make pretty funny stories.

I'm envious at some of the interaction you have with characters in your art. I have yet to get mine like those to feel right yet. I hope I get it down soon too.

Cool.

Nice. Random ass back story. But good read.

Kinsei responds:

lol, it was just one of those things that happened.
My bud didn't actually think I would draw it either :P
