It's interesting that the hair came out with a purple-ish tint but I didn't change the color. The actual hair is black but the lighting gives it the slight purple

Well maybe, but thank you for that. Yeah, you did good staying true to the Major's style. All through the series, her hair was black to purple. More of an Amithyst. Great Job man.

It looks dark grey to me, with a bits of silver, no idea what colors you guys are seeing.
Anyway in some versions of GitS Major Motoko has purple hair so if the purple-ish tint is true then that would be perfectly fine, well at least better than what i am seeing.
