Woodsman

Share

Well, me and my art school buddies like to do this "draw off" thing every once and a while. We each pick something vague that we want to see each person sketch and then set a time limit.

I was given "Big dude, with an axe". So an hour later this was done (the sketch anyway). So I liked it and colored it.

I was going to just try for that levels collab thing, but I think all the good axes are taken.

Pencil and paper, Photoshop CS3, Wacom, Hands.

Cool.

Looks more like a berserker than a woodsman to me though. (If you don't believe me, look it up. Viking berserkers looked very similar to that.)

kick ass

plz draw more lumberjack like people suggestion, lumberjack riding bull sharks with kick ass beard and drincking hot sauce i would have that as my background on my computer

wicked beard!

Some weak comments on here sorry. I love this guy! The coloring is solid. He's got nice weight. I think the axe looks slick, can't see any perspective issue as mentioned before.
The only issue I see are the hands and feet. His foot looks a little small and truncated. And the hands don't look quite right, particularly his left hand.

But all in all a solid image. It looks real polished.

Its Good

But man it looks like you accutally tryed to draw a dwarf from World of Warcraft

Kaptain-Karmel responds:

And I'm sure World of Warcraft tried to draw the dwarf from Lord of the Rings. And I'm sure that the Lord of the Rings guys based their beards on vikings.. So yeah, no.

In general, very nice drawing. One thing that could use improvement is the perspective of the axe. The blade doesn't match up with the handle.
