Part of a series of Nintendo-themed sculptures meant to be recreated in a more realistic manner, which started with the Realistic Piranha Plant (seen here: http://www.newgrounds.com /portal/view/513884 , and ends with a Baby Metroid in formaldehyde, which will be available in a few months.
It is a Super Mushroom, as seen in Super Mario Bros. I used clay and acrylics and the final piece is slightly over an inch in size.
And just in case, from the Q/A:
Q: No photographs? What about a photo of a painting I did in real life?
A: A photograph of a sculpture, painting, or some other piece of art you have made are in fact exceptions to this rule. Feel free to submit scans and photographs of your art if it's not already in a digital format.

Love it!
Damn, look at all the detail as far as the eye could see. It's also pretty creepy looking in real life. lols
