Babydolls Closet of fear and lose

Share

This months COTM I've decided to paint Babydoll trying to protect her little sister from an abusive stepfather, this is the dark point that causes Babydoll to desensitize herself to the world and break fear in an imaginary dream scape as she subconsciously tries to break free and escape the sadness and pain she felt at this moment.

Linework done in Manga Studio EX5, GreyScale painting performed in Paint Tools Sai, with a Single Orange flat for luminescence to exaggerate the darkness and try to represent the timeline this all occurred.

I really like this! I especially find the hands to be impressive as hands are hard to draw! Even more so when they're in a perspective such as this, nice job!

XavierStarr responds:

Thank you, I did find myself deleting and redrawing the hands many times till I was happy. :)

I really like this piece. The color you chose really does make the image feel more dramatic. The style kind of reminds me of the Walking Dead comics.

Hey man, I love the line work you've got going on here, just one problem I have with it, and it may even be nothing but, she's not pointing her gun towards her step-dad, she's kind of pointing over his shoulder.

XavierStarr responds:

Yeah I had her pointing it straight at the gap in the door at the viewer, as past the door is so dark she cannot see where he is hiding.

Very good, and it was nice to see the progression on the forum.
I just think the mouth on the main woman looks a little strange.
