Catherine *Kata* Somova

Share

A rough drawing of one of the 3 main characters for a story I thought of.
I'll probably have someone improve this in a commission.

Kata is a Slavic woman in her 20's in this picture. She natively speaks Russian, but over the course of about 6 years she has learned to speak understandable English.

Her experiences as a nomad have molded her into a seasoned tactician and an angry person. Her childhood and future were ruined because of a half-century long feud that was never meant to involve her, her best friend that she describes as "Хуже человек, которого я когда-либо знал"... (the worst person whom I've ever known), and because of an imperialist enemy that made a hell out of what was once the home of her and her single mother. But in this picture, it is around a decade later, and she and 2 other people are being pursued cross-country by her enemies. Due to hers and her enemies' history, she is not afraid to fight them or be killed by them. But for the sake of the people she is with, and the situation they found themselves in, it's vital that they do not do either one.

She has her traveling equipment, a bolt-action rifle, and her lacquered chopsticks. The neat thing about those is the fact that she does not use them for show in her hair. She intentionally uses her long hair to give herself a guise that she needs the chopsticks to keep her hair under control, when in reality her hair is merely a sheath for 2 deadly defense weapons, which she has been forced to use in the past.

When I made this story, I originally wanted a female protagonist included in the group. But then it kept developing, and soon this character became the literal backbone of the rest of the story. She is not meant to be a romantic interest of the male characters, has her own motivations for doing what she does, and overall has her own character development that I made center around her and her actions. I had a lot of fun writing her story.
