Crunch!

When a member of the Carver-Cult gets maimed horribly by a beast, he has to go alone to re-claim his lost limbs or injury. Typically it's a suicide mission due to the grievous injury and the beasts already having their scent. But every now and then, the most resourceful return victorious.

This guy had his leg snapped off in a brutal fight but after months of planning and hunting, he found the creature that stole his leg and slayed him. Now he is highly revered in his tribe and his wisdom and tactics are carved into the walls by the story-smiths.
