River of Self-Thought

It took a long time to make this one and just taking a photo of it. It is acrylic on 16x21 canvas. Three hours of painting. Three sketches and practice painting made. And the thing in the river is a boat with a fisherman in it....

A fisherman?

Oh, so that's a fisherman? I though it was a dog standing in a shallow river, heh.

Anyway, the picture itself is nice. The surroundings look very realistic, especially the mountain in the background (the sky looks nice as well).

The water doesn't look bad, but I think it could use some more work. I know that it's pretty hard to paint water that looks realistic and I do like what I can see here on this picture. But especially the water in the foreground - where you tried to draw the water "in movement" - it looks a bit unfinished.

Overall, the picutre does look very good, but it does lose a bit of it's quality because you had to take a picture of it in order to upload it here. I really would like to see the "original" of this painting, but I'm afraid this won't be possible. ^^

Yeah, I guess you're right... but thanks for the tips and the review!

lol

Well I assumed that was a fisherman in a boat before I read your comments ;) So good work on that! I like this painting a lot. The scene was thought out well, and executed just as well. The sky and the hillside both look great, and it even looks like you tried to capture the reflection of the sky in the water in the far end of the painting, which is really cool. The sand on the side of the hill and the different colors in the water really add a lot of different things to look at in this painting, which is cool.

Probably my favorite part about this painting is the perspective. I feel like I'm really standing right on the edge of the lake by that big tree and it just feels like a comfortable place to stand. As if I'm enjoying a view of the lake while enjoying the shade of a tree on a warm summer day.

Nice. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for all of the nice words, although, is there anything that I could work on? ( PM me if you want to reply)

Nice painting

I can see that you've put alot of effort into your painting.

I like how you vividly captured a vast open serene environment. The bright turquoise skies and lush green foliage in the background add a nice touch.

The water seems to be a bit rough in the foreground though.

Joshsouza responds:

Yeah, I noticed the water too but then again I don't really post much art with water in it.... until now. Thanks for the review I really appreciate it!
