This is a profile of a woman I made from various lengths of clay strands. I started with a flat base of clay to out line the head and neck. Then I basically laid out the different sized strands to make the face neck, and used small bits of clay for the eyes and lips. I did a layering of strands for the hair. I really liked how this one turned out. It took about 45 min to 1 hour to create. I wanted to try a profile piece because I normally focus on making a 3D clay head a lot of the time for my work.

I called her "string bean lady" because I didn't know how else to describe the strands. It just sounded good.

Man, I love clay modelling and clay art. There's just something about the material that fills me with confidence whenever I use it, and I feel I can shape anything from it.

I like your 'String Bean Lady'. The strands are neatly moulded and give off a snakelike image: very Medusa-like, actually.
Usually I think that other colours mixing into the base colour are distracting, but it adds some interesting shades in this instance. It certainly looks like a lot of effort went into its creation.

So, in short, I compliment this piece and I hope you make more. There isn't nearly enough clay-based artwork on this site. Keep it up!

Thank you so much! I just made a clay owl today that you might like as well! I had previously also made a lot of 3D clay faces and heads of various things and creatures.
