Government Warning Sign

Share

I did this for an assignment in one of my Illustration courses. The task given to us was to come up with a humorous image using our choice of media. The catch was that the humor/image had to be such that others in the class could identify it as being our work by those traits alone.

It's not quite as obvious here in this gallery how this illustration would stand out in those ways since I don't have very much of my artwork uploaded here, but this is one of the types of humor that are sometimes associated with me in the art courses I take.

This piece is based very heavily off of a black and white image of a remarkably similar warning sign put out by the BLM (Bureau of Land Management). In the sign I based this off of the text is nearly the same, except it states "Toilet cameras are for research purposes only." The other key difference is that the statute reference numbers at the bottom on the original refer to something about gas. Great to know that this is where some of America's tax dollars are going towards. =/

Well anyways, in this assignment I decided to spoof that sign by making it into a more blatantly questionable warning sign.

Is funny.

But you should have included "or obstructing camara view in any way shape or form".

And yes, the government is that scary and curropt in certain aspects, but ultimately that is because people keep voting to have them big brother us for everything. Then nobody speaking up/out.

Jibber-Zen responds:

Oh, that is a great suggestion. I should have added something along those lines.

hehe

Nice job. Very funny, and startlingly close to a real one of those kinds of signs.

hahaha

FAIL

Jibber-Zen responds:

The scary thing is how similar this is to the actual sign it's based off of. How much tax payer money is going into watching people use outhouses or other public restrooms? Or better yet, do we even want to know? O_o

It's times like this that illustrated parodies become useful in bringing issues such as this to the public's attention.
