So this is my first-ever submission to a COTM, and while I'm not entirely satisfied with it and don't believe it's worth a prize, I'm pretty proud of myself for actually finishing it. This honestly took so long, I didn't think I would be able to complete it in time. It's been so long since I've done a full digital painting like this.
Anyway, on to the story.
When I saw the contest theme, my first thought was of some majestic warrior on a battlefield, but the longer I looked at the axe, the more I thought that it would have been so cool to have as a kid. It seemed like an awesome toy I'd see in a store window, but never be able to get. Creating this piece really brought me back to when I was little and I would admire those cool toys on display, which was the sense I tried to invoke here.
