Star Wars Epic Battle

I'm back ladies and gents!

I would like to present my latest piece, featuring some of my favorite Star Wars characters. This took about 17 hours total to complete and spanned over 3 different devices.

First started on my phone and later moved to my computer to do the grey scale. Lastly being transferred to my iPad to be completed in Procreate. While it's not perfect, I love the end result. Hope you'll feel the same way.

Here's the link to the video for anyone interested in seeing the process. https://youtu.be/lRxgVFAjZ_w

YESH!

Baby Star Wars

Cool work. All the detail is just awesome. That and it doesn't hurt that I love Star Wars, lol.

Always liked SW, but not obsessed like so many fanatics are. Regardless, this is easily some of the most unique art related to it I've seen in my life. Did anything in particular make you decide to put less detail on some things(Star Destroyers, TIE fighters?) Maybe to emphasize other characters/objects? I feel like there's a chibi influence here despite the lack of exposed faces.

icheban responds:

Hey Cleaver, thanks for the kind words!

To answer your first question; I decided to leave the objects which are further away as silhouettes since I wanted to show a somewhat large scene. I also spent much longer on this painting than I usually do so while I could have added more, I decided to leave it as is.
You're right about emphasizing other characters. I wanted Boba to be the star, so I spent most of the time detailing him.

To be honest, I wasn't even sure what chibi is (had to google it) and I must say, while I see how someone might compare my work to that style, it's not at all what influences me to do what I do. I'm not really a fan of anime (while I can appreciate some good art regardless) and don't really like to include my line art in most pieces.

I've drawn some SW stuff in a similar style to this piece and was just adding to the series if you will.

I would say I'm most heavily influenced by artists such as Bobby Chiu and the like.

Hope that answers your questions :D

I love the style that drew and especially the color.

icheban responds:

That's great to hear :D thanks!
