Space Art Attempt Two

So, some improvements in this piece: I didn't use lens flares for star clusters. I made the Sun myself, as indicated by the orange glow, but used a lens flare to emphasize the brightness of the star, which I think in the long run, will provide good effects. I didn't use shading for the planets until they actually got onto the canvas, so I could fade the atmospheric glow on both planets, and this time I spread out the stars so I doesn't look as "PhotoShop"-ish.

I also went in and re-painted the Earth-like world by customizing my cloud texture brush to make the amount of cloud based on pressure applied to the tablet, I embossed certain areas of the land to emphasize land textures, I played with opacity and the like, and blah, blah blah, blah...Welp, hope you enjoy it! I am personally very proud of this piece and am happy with the way it turned out. Next time, I'm going to try and draw a supernova!

The piece looks good - did you take down the first piece? I get the feeling that at some stage, I reviewed that as well and I seem to remember that most of the piece was obscured by the overzealous lighting effects. Still, that's been improved now and the piece has improved so much for that alone.

With the land layouts of Earth, I can pick out what looks like Africa on the right of the globe, but I'm unsure as to which land mass is around the equator on the left, there. Just a little pointer - if you're going to draw Earth, accuracy is nice, but not entirely necessary. Making rough shapes, to represent the land masses would have helped here, but that it a bit of nit picking.

I like the use of shading, but with the perspective of the sun, you would need to extend those shadows quite a bit, both on Earth and Mars, but mostly on Earth, just for accuracy's sake. I like that you've added various natural satellites. If you were to take another challenge on in the cosmos, perhaps you'd draw the four gas giants - Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus, since they are all very different subjects and they have very different looks to them. Drawing with the sun behind you as the artist's viewpoint, could give you different shading looks, but it's all pretty academic.

DragonPunch responds:

These are original planets, not Earth and Mars (as you can see from a perspective point of view), just so you know, but thanks for the feedback!

Love it, this feels right, theres nothing awkward or hard to see, its laid out beautifully, I like the earths location you obviously went for a Thirds location concept which is awesome, the planet is beautiful I only wish it still looked as green today!

DragonPunch responds:

Thank you! Keep in mind, this world IS inhabited, though.

This is one of the coolest pieces of art I've seen. I really like the drop shadow on the landmasses, it really brings depth to the planet. The way you've arranged the stars above the Earth-like planet is reminiscent of a black hole. Very ballin' piece here.

DragonPunch responds:

Thank you very much!

Looks nice!
What I personally don't like is the fact that the stars cover the sun a bit, but that can be overlooked.
9.5/10, and or 4.5/5

DragonPunch responds:

Thank you!
