Zelus the Jealous

Share

Reupload from my deviantArt.

Before the seas were formed and the water cooled, what would be known as The Great Leviathan, Emperor Beast of the Seas, roamed with it's brethren.

Powers: Zelus was the serpentine fish-like Primal Demon of Jealousy and Envy, with no proper eyeballs in the sockets of it's head, but spread across its body these green, envious eyes, would sprout, in constant watch of everything surrounding the creature. Zelus moved in the vapors of the sky, and the boiling water in the ground, staring at the Sunguard and their bright existence, before striking fast. Due to it's perfect field of vision, and the ability to sprout it's eyes anywhere on its body, the Demon could not be caught by surprise, and the hypnotic gaze that those enticed on any Sunguard made it a beacon for it's enemies.

Defeat and Aftermath: Zelus fell when the Sunguards battling the leviathan began to act in group, rather that spread their forces too thin. Although the Demon's eyes could hypnotize anyone or anything, they had to focus on only one target at a time. The conjoined Sunguard groups then pierced all the eyes that sprouted, leaving them to leak and leaving the creature blind. In a last resort of envious vengeance, Zelus took to the water and opened its mouth to half it's elongated body, in an attempt to drain all water, but as would have it, the Sunguard would slay the creature with the very remains of the Ravager, dropping the mountainous boulder-like body parts of the creature inside the gaping mouth of Zelus. Before losing itself, Zelus created a split between itself and its surroundings, one that would carry on eons later, after the Divide of the Other Side and our own, with Zelus's remnants becoming known as the Hellmouth, threatening to drain all water of the world and drop it onto the Inferno.

From the leaking eyes that the Sunguard pierced on the Demon's body, monsters of the sea and descendants of The Great Leviathan would eventually evolve on their own, to the likeness of their creator, but to never reach it's size.
