Interesting brief

"Yesterday afternoon, I went at about half a dozen of my paintings with a craft knife and made a collage out of the remaining pieces." That's what I see.

Some of it could be ceramic wall tiles (top left, for example), while other parts could easily be mistaken for fabric (The mesh looks like one of those pieces of cloth that children are given to teach them sewing). The piece is highly fractured and contains a plethora of detail, though it is difficult to see the bigger picture when standing back from the piece. Some more hints and tips with the comments section would work here. If I try really hard, I see an outline of a woman, looking left to right, with folded arms and a bird in her hair.

Is this acrylic on canvas, or is it actually a collage. With the bottom left, I really can't tell, to be honest. I'd love to hear what you make your pieces from.

Hacsev responds:

Your comment about the collage is valid in the sense that it is an expression of visual perceptions through space and time.

Exciting

I think this is a very good abstract painting with a nice style to it. I am mostly getting details for what happened by looking at the author's comments lol but I really like the flow of many random shapes and colors although I have no idea what the tiles at the front and end are supposed to be unless it's like the inside and outside of a building. I don't really know.

I think the colors are the best part of this piece in all but I really don't what you should work on because it not only looks beautiful, but keeps me to like abstract art. Keep at it. You seem to be a lot better at abstract art than realistic pieces.

Hacsev responds:

Thank you. Where I come from houses have ironwork on their facade, which is what you call tiles.

Yesterday afternoon was probably exciting.

To me, there's nothing more important in art than for the viewer to be able to see it once and say, "Ooooh," then see it again and say, "Oh!" For all the bizarre patterns and seemingly random assortment of shapes, this piece still holds some literal meaning to the viewer: there's quite a lot to take in.

I think that's what I enjoy most about these abstracts. You can take maybe a quarter of it at a time. That's just a useful method of observing the piece as a whole. That being said, the piece seemed scattered, even for an abstract. Not terribly, but I think if there wasn't such a drastic transition from the flowing texture of the top to the bottom where mostly horizontal lines make up the patterns, you'd be better off. Maybe just a couple round images in the middle, as a kind of segue.

Other than that, I really like the colors and the shapes. Each block seems to have its own personality-- a kind of visual schizophrenia. Nice job.

Hacsev responds:

And nice of you to mention the myriad of patterns and shapes that make this picture. The full name of the work is "Yesterday Afternoon I walked Home". I enjoy taking walks. When I created this work I had a regular job in a building about a third of a mile from home. I used to walk back home to unwind and revel in so many visual details of architecture and nature, mostly conflicting patterns.

A great piece

I wish I could have this hanging in my room. It's a rather long piece, which makes viewing on a computer difficult, but I'm sure in real life it looks fantastic. The colors in this one are good, and the art is very interesting to look at. In this one I see a few animals for some reason, lol.

Amazing as usual. Keep up the good work.

Hacsev responds:

I can't really prove there are animals in some of the shapes you see, because I paint in a way in which I voluntarily avoid representation, but I cannot deny their presence either. You're right that it must be seen in person to be fully appreciated.

the colors

are done very well, its very entertaining to stare at, as well as stimulating

Hacsev responds:

Thanks. I used color harmonies to blend together all the various shapes.
