Marine Dance

Share

Another painting done with acrylic onto canvas. Please judge fairly since this is abstract art. The two white painted parts are whales.

EDIT: Thanks for the Front Page!

EDIT 2: Now you can purchase a print of Marine Dance, here:

Wow so nice

Well first of all congrats on the award that front page is nice to achieve and you did it with flying colors but anyways onto this beautiful abstract structure you have created the colors are beautiful and mesh so well the dark blues really love the style here and while there could be some lighting effects it's still awsome as is

~~THINGS TO IMPROVE ON~~
Some small lighting effects but really doesn't need it

~X~

Wow, that's great!

I have no idea why this does not have a higher score because it's simply one of the most awesome things I've ever seen here! This seems exactly like what a professional artist would do if he or she was submitting something to Newgrounds. It wasn't the image of a cartoon character or anything. It was the image of an abstract concept you made yourself. I almost feel like this shouldn't belong on the Art Portal! I appreciate all the work.

I love how the colors here just seem to be jumping all over the place. It's as if they are all being sucked into some vortex. This is the kind of stuff that would inspire any professional artist. I hope you go on to do more great work such as this to show off your skill. You have done this website good by showing us these great images!

Says Orca to me

Ah, I love seeing this one - it looks like you've got a pair of Orca leaping forth from the water and rolling backwards, pretty much as I recall from Free Willy, effectively landing on their backs, which seem whiter than I remember, but with abstracts, the detail looks a little different, so I'll let you off.

Quite a choppy sea scene, if I'm honest, but you do have a good variation and a range of colours spread across this piece. Having now checked your notes, I can also say "go me", as we're looking at similar things, if not entirely the same.

With the range of colours that you used, I'd probably question the reds and yellows, since it doesn't seem normal for the scene to be there. If you could show why you felt that was right, I'd be interested :)

Hacsev responds:

By all means. While the blues and greens are dominant colors in a seascape, there's no denying the fact that elements with their complimentary colors do exist at sea.

Lovely.

This has been in my favorites for a while; I'm surprised I haven't already reviewed it.

As school winds down, as I relax in the summer, and even as I daydream in class, my mind or body goes to the sea. I've lived on the coast for so long, taking in the water, the fish, the vegetation, everything. To see something that puts me in that mindset through abstract imagery is a true treat.

I don't find any technical problems with the piece. No errant brushstrokes, no confusing color choices, and no distracting uses of shapes. The focus of the piece is right there on the whales, as it should be, but the background offers a contemplative plane of a kind of reserved darkness. Not evil or foreboding, just mysterious, perhaps reflecting the misunderstood nature of whales (specifically Orca whales).

I actually thought the centerpieces were Orcas without reading the comments. It's good to know I have some kind of intuition on this piece. Again, even with these abstract shapes, just blobs of colors and line, I'm put in a setting of absolute tranquility, where I can just be satisfied with myself and my thoughts of the ocean. It's a calming, freeing experience, and I'd love to have this take up some space on my wall.

Thank you. You got it all. Very hard for me to add to your observations.

Liked it...

I liked the colors of it, it has a real abstract feel, I liemd the blue colors representing the sea, and the white in the middle of 'em was pretty cool too.

The colors and the shapes seems to be in movement, dancing, what was very cool, it's a lively painting, it seems the colors and shapes have movements, it's pretty cool!!

Overall it's a nice picture, but I've seen better from you Hacsev, the Ikebana Totem is cooler than this one, I think that one was awesome, and this one was pretty good. Got the difference? lol

Anyway, it's a godd picture, liked it... Keep the good work up!

You're very sincere in your comment and I appreciate that. Not every work one does goes right at the top of one's achievements. This work, however, seems to capture a sense of belonging to many viewers.
