I HIGHLY RECOMMEND VIEWING IT FULL SIZED, THE DETAILS SHOW UP BETTER. :)
This here is my pretty snow leopard, Nyctillous. ^U^ i absolutely LOVE this drawing!!! in fact, just drawing it got me obsessed with snow leopards for a while. fun times. this is my general description of the creatures:
i basically called this Nyctillous because it sounds kinda' like night and a bit of stealing off the title Nycteris from Batman Begins by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. :} then it's more common place name is Moon Guardian (but there's more than one, thus can be plural). basically this is so because it's common folk lore that these exceedingly beautiful creatures are born right out of the moon's rays on a full moon, streaking across the sky with there starry wings extended. they mainly stick to the colder regions where there's lots of snow and they also like the dark forest lands of those regions.
they have striking silver eyes and a unique face pattern of black that is very distinguished. they are also associated with the moon and night because they are nocturnal creatures. they have light and faded snowy leopard patterns on the topside of their wings to blend in when on the ground. These creatures are so graceful they seem to embody dignity and are surprisingly agile.
while rather peaceful by nature, they are fearsome warriors and few creatures will tangle with one when agitated. They tend to be quiet, silent like the falling snow, but their enraged roar can be loud enough. Any who have heard the screams of these creatures never recover from it, and remember the awful event the rest of their lives.
few have actually seen much of these creatures save a fleeting glance in the forest or a flash of starry wings in the mountains. Most revere these great cats and honor them but there are always those who's minds are wrapped around money and spend their entire lives hunting these legendary creatures. None have succeeded and more than a few have been found sprawled in the snow of a forest or at the base of a mountain, mangled, with their blood seeping into the earth.
hope you all like it and please tell me what you think. :)
NOTE: yea, this is another monster art for Rathaloskid originally but it turned out to a bit more than that for me. i got really into it and this is what came up. :B
