A butterfly that was made in my Children's Literature class. Used some paper stuff to make it. :P

"hehe. PWETTY BUTTERFLY!"

date: November 10, 2009

Lol, ignore my title. I get a bit overexcited when it comes to butterflies. Supersteph has infused my mind with strange images of butterflies and jetpacks so my mind is so used to seeing them taht it jsut implodes. (:P)

Anyway, back to business:

Its a good collage. Interesting colour choices provided a varied effect which set off basically everything well. Its not exactly symettrical and being a technical design student that's what i go for in any drawing.

I'd go with coop's suggestion and amke the pieces smaller as this would give you more flexibility in making interwining colours and designs.

Overall, its a good concept and u designed it decently. Stil it could use some mroe work to make it better.

"Interesting collage"

Well, it's not a perfect example of a butterfly, but to be honest, I wouldn't expect one for this sort of thing. The different colours of tissue paper for the abdomen are something that I wouldn't normally expect, combined with the distinct lack of symmetry for the wings, I'm kind of eager to ask when exactly you made this.

Children's literature class would seem to indicate that the piece was made a while ago, but I don't want to cast aspersions, by insinuating that you can only create a piece as good as a child :P

If it was a modern piece, I'd suggest that you shred the paper into smaller pieces and go for a more symmetrical looking piece, perhaps making a focal pattern on the wings and then using the rest of the wings to take up a more random and generic imagery, but perhaps that's looking too deeply to the piece itself.

Author's Response:

I thought the point of art was to not make it generic and boring, but perhaps I'm wrong.

Plus a children's lit class is a college course silly.

"Lol, good job :)."

date: November 7, 2009

Looks like you took your time making it, and it came out nice. Now all you need to do is add a jetpack and make it fly XD.

This is quite a colourful butterfly indeed, but I think the dark colours contrasted with the bright ones too much, i.e. the almost-black/very dark green colour you used for some of the paper in the wings got mixed up with the pink, yellow, blue and pale green and made the butterly look slightly wierd. Although it is colourful, those black-ish patches sort of ruin it a little, IMO.

I definitely will never have the patience to make something like that :\. Closest I got to that was a paper plane O.o. Anyway, good job on it, and sorry for the short review :\. This must've been one of the shortest I did ever since I joined the club, lol :P.

"Nonsymmetry fun!"

date: November 5, 2009

I like that the butterfly isn't symmetrical. Most likely this was unintentional but it makes it much more interesting to look at in my opinion.

It's also quite adorable! I hope the kids loved it, i mean if there are kids in that class lol.

Nothing i really can add to it, so sorry if my comment isn't the in-site you wanted.... =3

I guess since there isn't a way to change this and make it better that I just wanted to know what people thought about it and that's what you did so I'm fine with that. :P

"Nice"

date: November 3, 2009

A very nice butterfly, indeed. Pretty colours, especially on the body. Too bad some of the papers come off on the upper right wing, though.

But I can tell quite a lot of effort went into making this butterfly, and the effort is what really counts. ;)

I was actually thinking about the paper and I liked the way that it made it seem scaly and gave it a 3-D look. I can see that it's basically an error though.

"Original"

date: November 1, 2009

I like how it made most out of paper. It probably took a lot of time and effort. I also like how the body had most of the original colors. It does look like it is made out of post-its then I looked closer and I was wrong.

Is the antenna made out of pipecleaners? tHat's pretty creative. You should have gotten more paper with Darker colors because it looks bland when it's in Light Colors.

I couldn't figure out how to make this review bigger but here's the overall score:

Creativity 10/10
Originality 10/10
Effort 10/10
Concept 10/10
I like art ON paper more though.

Too bad the paper for the wings didn't have the same vibrancy as the body. Very child appropriate! ;)
