Nice
some shadows/lights look wierd but well done
It is definitely possible. It has been a very long time since I made this. I can't remember how I had it set up.

Good
It's good, but there are a few things that could be done to improve it.
1. I think the shadow looks sort of weird underneath the hourglass on the right side, possibly add another, really faint lightsource directly above the hourglass to fix it.
2. Make the hourglass bigger to match the floor texture.
3. Use caustics to make the light shine through the hourglass onto the surface.
