:Billy's Balloon Tribute:

Share

A Tribute to one of my favorite animators out there that's keeping up with his guns of traditionally done animation. (Don Hertzfeldt) This is also a tribute to one of his more well known animations called Billy's Balloon. Youtube it and you'll see.

The animation is funny but terrible if you know what I mean.
Anyways, took a couple of hours with ink, and mostly colored pencils.

Simply because that animation is pure awesome. One of the few to make me truly LOL. Good work on the clouds for sure, and your Billy looks exactly like the one from the animation. And also: Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiceeee

love billy's ballon

i just saw it on YT and it is hilarious and saw ther other rejected cartoons you should try and ask the guy if you can make some more of those short cartoons.

Nice...

I like it...I like it mucho!!!

A fitting tribute.

Don Hertzfeldt is an amazing animator. His films are always extremely creative and hilarious. I still remember the first time I saw his Rejected Cartoons film, it still blows me away every time watch it.

That, and it's freaking hilarious.

I instantly recognized what this was about from the drawing of the stick figure and balloon, so you definitely nailed his style.

faceofdoomness responds:

Rejected is not only a hilarious piece of animation its rather satirical. It would have been amazing if this animation won the 2000 Academy Award for Best Animated Short though gotta say the winning short was beautifully done and really touching. (The award went to Michael Dudok Du Wit's "Father and Daughter" check it out sometimes.)

I was pleased that I was able to recreate Don's unique stick figures pretty well though no one would ever be able to draw Don's stick figures like.. well the man himself. But anyways, thank you for the review and long live Don Hertzfeldt and his fans! :D
