Clash of the minds

Share

At the molten fields of Vul'caan, the last remaining shaman of our ancient race is locked in a legendary battle of the mind against a futuristic mechanical.

This is my illustration for the AncientVsFuturistic challenge of the month by Jazza.

In this illustration I have gone way beyond my experience and almost everything was a challenge. Anatomie, expressions, rocks, lava, different light sources, metal, outfit design, cracks, background, clouds.

My idea was to make something other then a battle of strenght. To mock this epic battle theme a little, I decided to make an epic fight of the mind by means of chess.

I spend around 35-45 hours at this. That includes studying and trying different things. It was a love-hate relation and the relief to be finally done is high.

I really like the framing and all the details you put into the character's design great job

Djoresh responds:

I am glad you liked it. This is slowly becoming my style now, though I am not sure if I want it to be this way. I also viewed your entry for the challenge of the month, good luck in the competition!

This is a really creative take on the challenge.
I liked the overall tone of the picture and how you kept the background and the characters pieced together.
I hope you will become one of the finalists, you deserve it.

Djoresh responds:

Thank you very much for having a look at my drawing and write this kind review. It makes all those hours of trying and failing worth it.
