On this day of days, Eric's ship, the Battle Cruiser Charity has been sabotaged by a member of his crew. The traitor placed a charge on the nuclear core's cooling systems, rendering the ship immobile. Eric has a confrontation with this traitor (you will be surprised to learn WHO this traitor is) and in a desperate fight, the traitor is shot and Eric stands above his former friend and puts his gun against the traitors head. Eric closes his eyes and pulls the trigger, the traitor jumps once then is still, dead.

Eric surveys the situation and quickly realizes the doomed fate of his grand ship, the time required to repair it will surely mean capture by the pursuing fleet, a mere ten minutes out, and operating the ship for even a short time will end up detonating the nuclear core. Eric makes his mind up and orders Charity to be abandoned, and the crew of Charity start to bail out to the sister ship Athlon. Once Eric is sure that the crew has departed, he turns to his friend, Zeman Bastogne and give Zeman his commanders medal "You're the leader now, I have one mroe thing I have to do" and Eric turns from the Athlon, and cuts the lines between the two ships.

Luke Durbiano, the captain of the Athlon calls out for Eric, but no reply... then Charity roars to life and takes off for the massive enemy fleet, Eric has made his choice, over the STS (ship to ship) communications Eric calls out "Alright, you guys take off as soon as my guns start firing, get to the rest of the rebels and organize. I'll give you some time, but not much, go..."

As Charity closes in on the enemy fleet her guns roar to life on auto commands, firing at anything they can. The enemy fleet is caught in surprise, and the leader of the enemy fleet, Carl Maxis, knows something is up. He slips out of his large command ship Imperial Oppressor and bolts. Eric careens deeper into the enemy fleet, rounds blasting into Charity, but the sleek ships pounds on. Eric takes aim at the Imperial Oppressor and guns the overheated core to maximum power. Eric gets a warning "core detonation imminent" but Eric ignore the warning and grabs the picture of his late wife, Charity Cross and says "I'm coming home, my love" and as Charity slams into Imperial Oppressor the core detonates. Eric, and a vast majority of the enemy fleet is killed in the nuclear blast, and the Battle Cruiser Charity is no more.
