The head shape is crazy weird. like it's lop sided. Also the head shouldn't connect to the neck that way. You should look up the loomis method of drawing. The colors are good but uninteresting. The shadows are just darker less saturated versions of their base. Next time don't try to texture the hair with strands. nothing else here looks like that so it's not cohesive to the piece. just a hard shadow will do. And its ok to add blush on the checks but those highlights (or just wight dots) look very out of place. sorry i was so critical on this one.

You have a couple of interesting points there. I did look up lots of tutorials for heads and anatomy in general. By no means does this picture has any claim of realism though. The shadows are on a multiplied layer painted with a desaturated purple. I'm usually not painting them on with another method. The hair strands DO look out of place, I'm practicing that shading style. And the specular highlights (white dots): right back at ya! ^^ Thanks for the critique.
