2008. Something like 2.5'x4'. I was inspired by Midieval-style griffins, the ones on banners & shields & family crests, with their wide eyes and open mouths and head turned towards the tail. Also the awesomely long, curled tails waving about. So I created this with these features in mind. A lot of the shading of the feathers is pretty sloppy, but holy carp I did detail the hell out of the forelegs & beak, with all those dots. I would like to recreate this eventually to improve it tenfold. Also this picture is not so great, it is difficult to capture larger pieces well with a camera & not have them curve at least a little. Unfortunately I do not have access to many older pieces since I moved so I can't retake the pictures.
