Heterochromia Iridium is a relatively uncommon occurance in humans that causes a difference in coloration between or sometimes within the iris (this can also sometimes occur in skin or hair as well). As for the choice of red and blue: The primary color palette for the girls in centered around violet; since red and blue are analogous to violet they make a harmonious analogous color scheme when combined with the rest of the colors in the figures.
