Indigos: A Sci-Fi Beat 'Em Up

Share

This week I decided to revisit some character ideas I had from high school. These are the main characters for a series I called "Indigos", based on an idea I had for a beat 'em up video game.

The basis is that these characters are a part of an alien race that can heal most wounds fairly quickly (not like Wolverine fast, but can, say, regrow a tooth overnight, or heal a cut in a few hours). As a result, the people of this race have competed through physically fighting for multiple millennia. But as their civilization has advanced into a modern age, fighting is considered brutish and uncivilized. There are very few ways of life that still involve public brawls (athletics, security, etc.), and the Indigos are a team of couriers, part of a system that has teams of couriers fighting over the delivery of packages for customers that want to keep their goods away from the Federal Delivery Service. Anyone who can justify not risking the government getting their hands on their packages are willing to pay top dollar for inner-city delivery runners.

This idea came as a way to justify a bunch of tropes of video games that usually get by with the reasoning of "because video games", as well as a way to have some fun with some cartoon sci-fi settings.

The Indigos team is:

- Jonesch "Joni" Zint (orange hair): Leader, "slight" temper problem
- Garrand Ampersellus (teal hair): Awkward dork, good with gadgets
- Eliweez Solae (green hair): Ex-rockstar, experiences borderline-schizophrenic "surges" as a result of drug abuse in the past
- Piqarell "Piq" Marqois (yellow hair): Small, fast, pisses off just about everyone he comes into contact with
