I've really gotten into Nu Skool tattoo art recently so thought I'd have a go at creating my own.

Okay, so I'm not the best critiquer of visual artwork. I'm more a music guy. :( I'll give this a shot anyway though!
What I Liked:
-What I immediately noticed was the subtle background, how it gets darker in the lower right and lighter in the upper left. Nice touch there, gives it a bit of an ominous feel actually. Any particular significance to have darkness emanating from your signature?
-The right eye (well, right eye on the skull, it's to the left in the picture) stares right at me while the left eye stares off to the right somewhere - that was a bit creepy and cool.
-The fact that this is apparently modeled a bit off of a heart is odd. I like how you tried doing it - the blue around the edges also transitions nicely to the outside, especially the green. Of course, once I notice that it sticks out like a sore thumb, so it might not be the best thing, but... :(
-That grin. It looks like it's laughing at me.
-I see Lord Voldemort's nose. Or rather, single nostril.
-Subtle purple around the edges of this make it stylish and almost as if it has an aura around it.
What I Didn't Like Quite So Much For One Reason Or Another:
-The left eye (left eye on the skull, it's to the right on the picture) seems to have a bit of a messed-up pupil. The edges right around there also seem to be blurred and less circular, making it look like there was a tad bit of laziness in making it.
-It would have been nice if the flames trailing off the back didn't have an outline at all, but instead bled into the background.
Overall: I actually like this a lot. It also looks like you enjoy making macabre pieces of art involving skulls or monsters. Cute. Thanks for an interesting diversion from music reviewing!

Cheers for the review dude. I take everything you said about the left eye and the outline of the flames. It could do with a bit more work done to it. Sadly I'm quite a busy chap for the up coming weeks so it probably won't get done but I'll have more stuff out soon so I'll use the tips on that.
As for why I used a slight gradient for the background, i simply made the piece look a little more professional in my opinion.

Looks wicked! Not sure how this color would appear on a real tatoo, but the form is definitely conceptual. I like the green flames especially, and the eyes, a kind of awkward grin. I'm wondering how it would look with teeth though, maybe a bit more menacing? Keep it going!
