To get the ball rolling I decided to upload a drawing I made some months ago...

Done with a cheap genius pen.

I personally don't agree

I don't think it needs anything else added. The way it is now gives it a look of early morning, when nobody else is out... Like your all alone on your favorite spot staring off into the ocean. Very calming :)

I agree, and somewhat disagree

I really like this piece, but I agree with the review below. I would add something, I do not know what. I really do like this because there are no extra elements (human, boat, etc...) and for some reason I enjoy looking at this piece more because of that. Really well done.

Thank you for your kind words! I Think the piece could be improved if the sun was smaller, the horizon line was higher and if the sea had some kind of gradient going on. I think this would be a nice way to add depth without using objects.

Thanks for your input, good to know that you like the "no mankind" scenery of the painting.

missing some elements

overall the light and color looks great no question about that. The texture one the ground is very finely detailed as well. There just needs to be more then just a tree, an ocean, and the sun.

I know this is not a new work based on your authors comments, but when it comes to landscape pieces, its best to remember the concept of: foreground, midground, and background. a subtle mountain range, a boat/ship, or a land mass in the background would probably help.

Thank you for your detailed review. I agree with you about the depth, I should've made the horizon line farther away, and put something on the background for depth.
Thanks for your review, very helpful.
