Its good, but WTF is she doing.
I think its really good but its missing something....
Its kind of empty...and if you wanted to pass this impression you could do it better by other ways!

Well, seeing as you are giving a critique, listing some possible ways to improve it would be helpful. I've already had a review saying that it seems I could have added more.
But regardless, thank you for your comment. I'd like to improve the piece so that viewers would find it more attractive, but I haven't had any actual feedback as to how to go about these improvements. So where does that leave me when I am actually happy with it? lol

i really like this. i mean there's nothing really wrong with it or anything to critique, but it seems like you could've gone a little further with it, let your creative mind wander a little off the beaten path to make something that's truly unique.
either way, keep up the good work!

Thanks, that's a pretty thoughtful comment.
I can see what you mean about how it looks like I could have gone further. I'm wary of building on an image if I've achieved what I was looking to create; scared to overwork it. I'd also spent about 8 hours on this image while I have actual work I should be doing. lol
I know.. excuses, excuses. Thank you for your comment/review. Next time I create something for myself I'll take your thoughts into consideration, 'cause I recon this restraint is an ongoing issue in my work. Thanks again!

This makes me think of the Lindsay Borden murders theory where people think she killed them naked and then washed up in a wash-pan in the basement.

While beautifully drawn, I have no idea what this piece is trying to say. She's nude covered with blood. Sadly, I just don't get it.

Thanks for your review! I could have written more in the description, but I wanted to leave a lot of it up to the interpretation of the viewer. Sometimes the story you make up with visual cues and tags/titlecan be more intriguing since you're required to put some of your own thoughts into the piece.
Essentially you complete the artwork by giving it a story. I kind of wish I'd labeled it as Fine Art rather than Illustration - as you mentioned, I hadn't intended to illustrate any particular point.
My personal story is that I'm trying to quit smoking. I've been smoking on and off for a long-ass time and this is where the "tar" tag comes in, as well as some of the visual aspects such as the smokey haze of the gradient and viscous tar-like/black blood substance splashed across the chest. I'll also note that this is not a self-portrait!
