I posted a video up on my personal site the other day where a guy turned himself into one of the Na'vi from Avatar.

Needless to say I was inspired so I tried my hand at creating myself in photoshop.

I'm quite happy with the result but I did play with a few things that I want to mention.

The Na'vi tend to have smoother skin but I felt it gave a grittier feel and more depth with some added texture layers.

I think I could probably work more on the textures and certainly remove the beard situation I had going on, was too lazy to shave and edit in photoshop! :D

Overall a really fun piece of work that took about 2-4 hours of figuring out.

JK! i love it but you shoould do the spots more notisble and brighter..

In the movie it was blowe yello when night fell :D

P.s: *Wisper* and the eyes glow 2 *Wisper*

Very realistic~

I'd suggest making a background, but on second thought, what would go there? I mean, it just doesn't work. Anyway.

The detail on the eye is incredible, same for the hair and the mustache. Hairy things, in my opinion, are the hardest to get good detail on. The ears look really plain, but I can't recall exactly how detailed the ears were (to be honest, all I remember about them is the fact that they are blue, have white freckles, and four fingers on each hand). The pink-ish color doesn't seem to fit in that well, compared to the blue of the majority of the picture.
The eyes look a tad bit large, but upon closer inspection, the highlights are just amazing. The white dots on the face look out of place, I mean, like, they just don't seem to fit in, but I can't really describe why. It might be because of the shading...?
Sorry for bouncing around so much (going from good to bad to good.. then bad, then good....etc.) with my review, but that's how I tend to review. I just comment as I go along, I make no effort to keep things in their own 'groups'. ^^;

Whoa

Awesome... I need to try this.
