I tried to tell a story using Celebi's pokedex entries. The story goes:
Celebi is often see with eggs from another time, as it is saving them from times of fighting.
Celebi returns the egg (in this case hatched egg) once the fighting is over, as the atmosphere is calm people noticed Celebi presence.
Celebi's power to grow plant life restores the destroyed landscape.
