Kwanyin is a goddess in Buddism. (I heard she is originally a guy.)
But that thing is a virtual-reality consol which monks connect their brains to. Through it they can hear from great minds, exchange thoughts. But as its popularity spreads outside the temple, many illegal uses are invented, amough which are virtual prostitution, brainwashing, memory pilferage, even suicide bomber training.
