A tropical beach at sunset, set somewhere in the pacific. Some clouds cover the sky to break it up a little bit. Rendered in 3 hrs using a 2600k at stock speed.

Superb.
I'm not much for ample feedback or suggestions, but I can say this kind of work is one of the reasons I frequent Newgrounds. Don't change.

In the words of Dr. Suess
"But those trees! Those trees! Those Trufula Trees!"
The best part about the image is how the plantlife looks like plants, and not like an algorithm. In fact, the tree algorithm is so good that if I wasn't deliberately and explicitly looking for it, I would not have noticed that the two trees are actually the same tree. The clouds and the water are the same way: the balance between structure and randomness is exact and correctly represents what my mind expects of reality.
Kinsei mentioned the sand is a bit repetitive. I have seen sand with such a repetitive pattern before, but a long-range source of noise might have been good, so two zones of sand that are 20 feet apart don't look identical. He also mentioned the sun, which maybe should be more corporeal as Kinsei said, but also not so white-colored at sunset. The rays it casts on the beach are very warm and red-yellow tinted, so I'd expect the same in the sky. These critiques, however, are not worth taking a whole point from your score!
And nice lens flare. It really completes the "photography" illusion! :-)

Fab
Very beautiful scene with realism. The sunshine effect is particularly pretty. However, there's one thing I've noticed that detracts from all this and that's the blandness of the sand. It's well textured and all, but it's the exactly the same pattern throughout. If you added some shells, footprints, seaweed, or even mounds and other things it would have looked better.
Mounds sound like a good idea! I was out of ideas when I finally chose to render it. Mounds and shells, good thinking!

Very Pleasing
Over all, a very solid piece. It is quite relaxing. I like it.
2 things that I did notice though. You can see some of the material repetition in the sand. You need to break that up a little. It pull the viewer out of the pristine world you have created.
And the second thing is the sun. Everything is fine, like it should be, but the sun needs a little more solid form some where in the center of that light source.
the second one isn't that crucial though, its just mostly about breaking that illusion of your piece.
Still, superb though. Keep it up
